We make games, not ad profiles. We collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and you can have it deleted any time. Here is the whole picture, in plain English.
Who we are
Cout Games is a small independent game studio. We make Tiny Track Labs and Idle Journey. If you have any question about your data, write to hello@coutgames.com and a real person will answer.
This website
coutgames.com has no analytics, no ad trackers, no third-party scripts and no cookies. Fonts and images are served from our own server.
If you open the site from a friend's link (one ending in ?code=...), your browser keeps that code in its session storage until you close the tab, so the demo can fill it in for you. It never leaves your device except as described in the next section.
Anonymous counts
To know whether the demo and friend links are working, the site and the game send anonymous events such as "a share link was opened" or "the demo was started". We store only a daily total per event (for example: 12 share links opened on 9 October, from the web). No email, no name, no device ID, no cookie and no IP address is stored with these counts.
If you give us your email
In the demo you can leave your email to get a personal code (it looks like RACE-7K2Q). When you do, we store:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To send you your code and, if you agreed, the emails below. |
| Your code and where you signed up (web, itch.io or Steam) | So the code keeps working and we know which store it came from. |
| The friend code you arrived with, if any | To count how many people each friend code brought in. |
| Your choices and when you made them | To prove what you agreed to, and when. |
| When you confirmed your email, and when we last emailed you | Double opt-in, and to avoid sending too many emails. |
The two choices
- "Email me when the game is released": we email you about Tiny Track Labs's release. This one is needed to get a code.
- "Email me about new Cout Games titles": optional, off by default. Occasional news when we launch something new.
We record each choice with the date and time you made it. We only email you about what you said yes to.
Friend codes
Your code is also your friend code. When someone uses it, we record that it was used and by which account, so we can count uses. Your friend never sees your email, and you never see theirs.
Who else sees it
Nobody, except the services we need to run things:
- Our email delivery provider, which sends the emails for us. It only gets your address and the email itself, and acts only on our instructions.
- Google Cloud, where our server runs.
We do not sell, rent or share your data with advertisers. Ever.
How long we keep it
- Your email and code: until you ask us to delete them, or until we stop running the mailing list, whichever comes first.
- Unsubscribing stops the emails right away. We keep the record that you unsubscribed so we never email you by mistake; ask us if you want it gone completely.
- Anonymous daily counts: kept as long as they are useful. They can't identify anyone.
- Backups: daily backups are kept for 14 days, then overwritten.
- Server logs: our server may briefly see technical data like your IP address to deliver pages and stop abuse. We don't use it to identify or track you.
Unsubscribe
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click is enough. You can also just reply or write to hello@coutgames.com.
Your rights (LGPD and GDPR)
Wherever you live, including in Brazil (LGPD) and in the EU or UK (GDPR), you can ask us to:
- tell you what data we have about you and give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop using it, or withdraw any consent you gave (this doesn't affect what was done before);
- move it to another service.
Write to hello@coutgames.com from the address in question and we'll do it within 15 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority (in Brazil, the ANPD).
We use your email based on your consent. The anonymous counts are kept for our legitimate interest in knowing whether our games work.
Kids
Our games are for everyone, but the mailing list is not meant for children under 13. If you think a child signed up, tell us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the change is important, we'll tell people on the mailing list before it applies.
